How Seven Wonders of the World are Elected?
A foundation was set up by Switzerland in 1999 to elect the seven wonders of the world, for this, a foundation was formed which includes 200 claims from the world, but later the list was voted by an elected seven wonders of the world.
These new seven wonders of the world were announced on 7 July 2007 in Lisbon, Portugal under the leadership of Canadian-Swiss Bernard Weber after a survey that was held by the new seven wonders foundation in Zurich, Switzerland.
It is also surprising that nearly 100 million votes were cast to choose seven wonders of the world.

1. Great Wall of China – The Great Wall of China is made of clay and stone, it was built from the 5th century BC to the 16th century under the imagination of former Chinese Emperor Qui Shi Huang.
Its construction took about 2000 years. The length of the wall is 6400 kilometer.
It is the largest structure made by humans in the world.
Talking about the width of this, at a time 5 horsemen and 10 pedestrians can walk on it. This wall is so big that it is also visible from the space.
This wall was built by the Emperor of China to avoid the northern invaders. In 1987, this was included in the World Heritage by the UNESCO.
2. Christ the Redeemer Statue – A statue of Christ established in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, located on the Corcovado Mountains in Tijuca Forest National Park.
It was constructed during a period of 9 years from 1922 to 1931.
It was ranked among the seven wonders of the world on 7 July 2007.
It is considered as the world’s second-largest art deco statue.
Its weight is about is 635 tons and the statue is 39.6 meters (130 feet) long.
It is 30 meters (98feet) wide with its 9.5 meters (1 foot) base.
As a symbol of religion, it has now become an identity of the country of Brazil as well as it is also the main attraction of foreign tourists coming to Brazil.
The statue was designed by local Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa and built by sculptor Paul Landowski from strong concrete and soapstone.
3. Machu Picchu – Machu Picchu means old peak. The pre-Columbian era, located in the South American country Peru, is a historical site related to the Inca civilization. It is also known as the “Lost City of the Incas.”
It was declared a Peruvian landmark in 1981 and in 1983 it was granted World Heritage Site status by UNESCO.
It was also included in the Seven Wonders of the World announced on 7 July 2007.
Its height is 2430 meters above sea level. It was discovered by American historian Hiram Bingham in 1911, since then it has become an important tourist destination of the world.
It is carved by polished letters and the building houses the Intihuatana (Temple of the Sun) and a chamber with three windows. It has polished dry-stone walls.
4. Petra – The ancient and archaeological city of Petra is located in Jordan’s Aman province, in which rock-cut buildings are built.
Its construction started around 1200 BC. The construction of this building was not completed till now, so it is still half incomplete.
Petra is recognized by UNESCO as being a World Heritage Site.
The ancient city of Petra is located in Wadi Musa. More than 8 million tourists visit this place every year.
There are about 800 carved tombs inside the Petra building.
In the year 2007, it has been included in the list of Seven Wonders of the World.
Building and carving a rock-cut into a building is a very difficult task to do, but even today people shock after seeing this old-fashioned artwork.
Petra is also known as “Rose City” because of the colour of the stone on which it is carved.
5. Taj Mahal – Taj Mahal located on the south bank of river Yamuna in Agra city of Uttar Pradesh of an Indian state.
It covers almost 17 hectares area of land and its height is 73 meters (240 feet).
It was also declared a world heritage by UNESCO in 1983 and in the year 2007 it was included among the Seven Wonders of the World.
Its construction was started by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1632 AD and it was completed after about 10 years in 1643 AD.
The name of the architect is Ustad Ahmad Lahauri.
It is the tomb of Mumtaz, the most favorite wife of Shah Jahan, which is built by white marble stone. And is set in formal gardens bounded on three sides by a crenellated wall (which are used for defensive purposes).
The Taj Mahal is also considered a symbol of love, so it is one of the most favorable tourist places in India.
6. Chichen Itza – Chichen Itza is located in the state of Yucatan, Mexico. The name Chichen Itza means on the side of a well. The sculpture here depicts themes of militarism and the imagination of jaguars, eagles, winged snakes.
The city was inhabited between the ninth and twelfth centuries by the Pre-Columbian Mayan civilization.
This is a temple that is spread over a radius of 5 kilometers. This temple is built in the shape of a pyramid, whose height is 79 feet.
Stairs have been built around this temple and there are 91 steps in each direction, which is a total of 365 stairs, which symbolizes 365 days of the year. And there are 9 terraces which are divided into two which makes a total of 18.
Clapping around the temple produces the sound of birds chirping.
The center of attraction in Chichen Itza is the pyramid, El Castillo. It is visited by 1.2 million people every year.
Chichen Itza was included in the Seven Wonders of the World in the year 2007.
7. The Roman Colosseum – It is the largest elliptical or oval amphitheater (stadium) of the Roman Empire, located in Ramnagar, Italy.
Its construction started during the 70th to 72nd AD and was completed by Emperor Titus in the 80th AD.
In this stadium a total of 50,000 people can sit at a time. But in historic times in past it had hold an estimate of 80,000 spectators at a time.
It is the most famous tourist place in Italy, it is visited by more than 4 million people every year. It was made of stone(Volcanic rock), sand, and lime.
The Colosseum has a height of 157 feet and a circumference of 1788 feet.
Looking at its giant shape, it has been included in Seven Wonders of the World.
