Or simply it means killing an unborn baby girl in the fetus of the mother.

The practice is ancient as practiced for many decades and still happening.

The reason is that the parents and the society thinks that the boy will carry the burden of family, and the girl will be a burden on the family. As they always wanted a boy child.

Because of Female Foeticide for decades, our sex ratio decreased to 800 females per 1000 males.

With the help of government schemes and modern thinking of society, the number increased to 900 females per 1000 males.

And specially P.M. Modi supported Women Empowerment in India.

The main reason for female foeticide is the preference of a boy child in Older Indian Society as guided by the Vice-Chancellor of the house, which is mostly men.

The reason is that the parents and the society thinks that the boy will carry the burden of family, and the girl will be a burden on the family. As they always wanted a boy child.

As in many conservative families, it is considered that girls are just a liability or a burden, and boys are blessings.

Gender discrimination among boys and girls where boys are considered better from girls that mentality is also the reason.
